LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday got annoyed over defense ministry officials and ordered them either to produce 35 missing persons before court by afternoon or get ready to face the music, Pakistan Tribune reported. A three-member bench of apex court is hearing missing persons case in Lahore registry of Supreme Court. During Monday’s hearing, Chief Justice had ordered defense secretary to produce 35 missing persons or appear personally before court of Tuesday. However, despite court’s order neither missing persons were presented before court nor defense secretary appeared in person. Additional secretary defense informed court that secretary defense could not travel to Lahore because of his health issues. He also reiterated his yesterday’s stance that missing persons are not in military custody and efforts are being made to trace them. Chief Justice (CJ) showed his annoyance over the defense secretary and said that if he sick, then he should have availed sick leave after delegating authorities someone else. CJ further ordered additional secretary to recover the missing persons and present before court by one’ o clock. He further remarked that all evidences are suggesting that missing persons are in custody of military. “Get in touch with the prime minister, defense minister or any uniformed man and find out who would file the reply here” a furious CJP ordered additional secretary defense.
